Geez, it feels like I have no *time* any more. Though between my computer issues and work...bleh.
First of all, big virtual kisses to amilyn and imbri6, I actually got to dress up for Halloween this year, wore my garb, and got all KINDS of compliments for it! [and imbri6? You were the one that made my cap, so it's the *only* thing I don't have instructions for. Can you point me to where you got it? Please? **bats eyes**] I have *got* to remember to make me a new bodice though....I need one in the world's worst way. >_<
Working overnights right now....which despite the fact that I have to work all night [as in, 10pm to 6am], which in itself isn't a hardship really, I've *loved* it. I think because I can do stuff without having to worry about customers, and I can listen to my own music! Yay!! Sure, I could probably wear my player for ad-set [others have...and do], but we have to carry walkies around to talk to one another, and I've discovered it's hard for me to concentrate on what someone is saying with something going on in my ear [when talking to a customer on the floor I invariably have to take my earpiece off when someone starts talking, it's distracting...], it's either one or the other for me. **sighs** Ah well.
Climbing up and down ladders though? SUCKS BUTT!! Does nothing but slow me down, when I'm trying to stock the extra stuff, and considering all the inventory we have right now, in some places the shelves TO THE TOP are filled. O_o; At least once Black Friday is done, we won't have anything *major* 'til probably the after-Christmas sale. heh
Got to see imbri6....urr...weekend before last? Crud, the days are *so* blending together [one bad thing about working overnights...I'm having a hard time remembering what day it is...LOL]. Anyhooo, we had a lovely visit, and I now have in my hot little hands a sample of her lovely work!! Now all I have to do is decide what I want to *do* with it....LOL
Anyway, one of the things we did was go to a local arts/crafts show. [more shopping than art, as imbri6 put it. :P] I got chastised RATHER SOUNDLY when I made the comment [while looking at these GORGEOUS quilts] that I wished I could do something that pretty. It didn't occur to me 'til I was thinking about it later [probably at work...LOL], but I've never really viewed my knitting as artistic. I'm not saying I don't think what I do doesn't look good [because if I think it looks crappy, it doesn't go anywhere. There was ONE exception, but at the time I was working with the only yarns I could find, and I never could talk him into letting me make him a *better* looking one. LOL] But I guess it just doesn't feel *artistic*, because I'm just following a pattern.
Oh...and *finally* as promised; imbri6, there's an old post here, the first pic is of a prototype Susie that shindig_pop gave me for Christmas, and here is another pic of Susie [with something I knit on her...also link to the creator's website in the commentary].
Should probably wrap this up so that I can actually get this *posted*, spent entirely too long looking for that old post. LOL Happy Turkey Day, all!!

Subscribed to this Vogue Knitting update thingie....was bad, followed a link. Now I want to make pretty!
Why, oh *why* is it that the patterns that really call to me are things I'd probably NEVER wear myself, so I'm like "okay, if I do this, what the heck am I gonna DO with it when it's DONE??"
ah well, I suppose I should be grateful, this attitude has curtailed my pattern-buying enough that I'm not up to my eyeballs in knitting patterns. LOL

There's a knitting group on DeviantArt that I watch....and in their latest journal post, they posted a talk on crochet coral reefs. It's pretty math-theory heavy, but even I [math dullard that I am] still found it fascinating.
And all those crocheters who were starting out, did something incorrectly and ended up with this wavy *thing* as a result? Who knew we were actually creating mathematic impossibilities? LOL

I've missed *two* birthdays! :P Sooo.... jkluge and fayzalmoonbeam, I hope your day was TOTALLY FULL OF AWESOME!!
The Pirate Bay is no more....**sniffles** I thought it was the most organized of the torrent search thingies out there, and now it's gone. **sighs**
In other news though, I *did* find torrents for 'Scarecrow & Mrs. King". **squees** They've all been either the Lifetime or...oh crud, now I'm blanking...Family Channel! episodes, but hey, it's better than the NOTHING I had before. They need to release this series to DVD, darn it!! For pity's sake, if they can get 'Voyagers!' out, then they can do 'Scarecrow'!!!! [of course, Scarecrow *did* have more seasons....LOL]
Also....**jumps up and down excitedly**....FINALLY found a torrent for 'Bionic Six'! **squees** Of course, the quality is iffy, because they're most likely rips from VHS [and the show was...urrm....mid 80's at least?], but it makes me MORE than happy to be able to watch 'em at all. At least until they get released to DVD [yah, I know, hope springs eternal...LOL]. Now all I have to do is get lucky and stumble across a torrent for 'Mighty Orbots'. teehee
Of course, since I pulled out the 'Robotech' boxed set we got awhile go and am *finally* watching that....it'll probably be a bit before I get 'round to watching *either*. LOL [the boxed set has the complete series....that's *lots* of episodes....*G*] ah well, at least I know they're there and ready to watch.

We have a bird. So far he's been IDed as a boy, and his name is Tink.
Well...the hubby sort of expressed an interest WAAAY back many years ago, when visiting a friend in his home and seeing the birds he and his wife had. Has expressed interest off-and-on since. My ONE concern has always been the cats, and whether or not we'd have the cats giving a poor bird a heart attack trying to get at the Tasty, Tasty Snack. Recently he looked into it again...and we were visiting a PetCo in Jeff and found a bird the PRETTIEST light blue color [MY color, so amazed!!]. So yeah, bird came home.
All told, getting started with this bird was FAR less expensive than any of the fish tanks he's ever done. $35, he found a used cage cheap...but it's a bit small. We'll eventually have to get the little guy a bigger cage, but it'll work for a quarantine cage. That $35 included cage, cuttle bone, feeder, HUGE bag of bird food, and the bird itself.
We were beginning to wonder if he'd be quiet forever, the first few days there was nothing out of him. O_o But, he's slowly gotten more vocal. Which is good. Of course, the cats have shown little to no interest. It took Callisto a WEEK to even NOTICE that the bird was there [and he'd started the trilling thing before that], and Peggy will occasionally watch the cage, but usually only while I'm holding her and she's pretty much at the right height.
The hubby's already posted pics on the Budgee [sp? Not sure how the word's spelled, will have to ask the hubby and correct it later if need be] forum he's been following....they're apparently telling him our bird's coloration is actually quite rare. Leave it to us, I guess. *G*
It's become quite the source of amusement, in a way. Tink is in the computer room ['cause we spend most of our time there], and the hubby leaves music on for the bird pretty much all day [depending on whether or not both of us are in there....], and Tink's taste in music is...well, that's the amusing part. Right now Queen is playing, and he's chirping and making all kinds of noise to that [a common thing, apparently, when they like something] he likes Cher [every time 'Believe' comes on, he's very vocal.] He likes 'Predilection' by Kappai Yamaguchi [I'd say because of the beat of the song, but he reacts to the other Japanese language songs too...LOL]. He loves, loves LOVE Aqua.
Yes, I said Aqua. To the extent that the hubby and I were talking, and he turned down 'Dr Jones' [a favorite, it seems] so he could hear me, and Tink made his "I'm upset with you!!" screech because he couldn't hear it well enough for him!! Most songs he likes, he just tends to try to "sing" along, with Aqua he even "dances"! It's very cute.
Things I've learned so far:
1)Birds like cheap toys, apparently. The hubby took a sheet of typing paper, cut it into strips and curled it. Now that Tink's loosened up enough to start doing stuff, he's showing an interest in it.
2)Birds...at least Tink and his ilk...are LIGHT!! The little box we brought him home in, it felt as if there was NOTHING inside! He's taken sometimes to sitting on the curled paper [which is clipped together and hung on the side of the cage so it makes a nice ball], which he can do easily--and the paper doesn't budge.
3)Birds Tink's size [he *might* be 10 inches from head to the tip of his tail] are rather sensitive to drafts. And while it might seem a bit cruel, there's a reason why stores clip birds' wings. The hubby has read of accounts where hand-raised birds don't fly indoors quite so well, and have killed themselves ramming their poor skulls into walls. These guys are small enough, any broken bone will most likely be fatal, because even an avian vet wouldn't be able to set the bones.
4)I'd always thought, when a bird ate seed...they well, ate the whole thing. Not so, at least for the Budgees, there's hulls left behind. So although it's probably not strictly necessary, I pull out his food dish ever so often and scoop out the hulls.

The beginning is the end is the beginning-Smashing Pumkins |
] |
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Awesomely Awesome shindig_pop!!! Will have to try to remember to call later today, 'cause it's like nearly 4:30 am right now...a BIT early. heehee
Yet ANOTHER way to illustrate how WHACKED I can be...LOL I've seen the high-rez video of Watchmen...well, twice now, thanks to the newest Divx install [and I don't know if it's good or bad that I like the high-rez trailer FAR better than I liked the movie....O_o;]. So on a lark I went to...well...somewhere...and found it to download. Which is cool, because on top of liking the trailer, I liked the music they used for it. Having the trailer means that I could figure out what the song they used was. All I can say is, if "The Beginning is the end is the beginning" is indicative of what Smashing Pumpkins' music is like, I want to hear MORE. Oh, yes I do.
Of course, this really isn't the *first* time something like this has happened, although the last time I had this much success is from the commercial for the first Kingdom Hearts video game. One version of the commercial actually used the JAPANESE lyrics for the theme song, and I was like "Oh, I WANT that!" and started digging. [I think it's the only song I've ever liked enough...I have the Japanese and English versions, both the long version and short one, as well as the planitB remix. O_o]
On the hubby front....the docs unlocked his brace, and now he's making leaps and bounds towards getting full use back. He's finally driving himself again [which still feels a little odd, after having to drive him everywhere for two months....O_o]!! I got the distinct impression that they were just *waiting* for me to be able to change my availability at work [as I changed it so that I *knew* I'd be off to take the hubby to see docs and such], because I submitted my availability change last Friday, and *poof*, I'm on the schedule for Truck next Monday. Was expecting a week or so before that set in, not pretty much immediately. O_o [to put it another way, I submitted on Friday, the new schedule was out by Tuesday. Maybe earlier than that, I'm not sure.]
Well, should wrap up I guess, have things to do, we're going on a last-minute trip to see Mumsy. ^_^.
EDIT: Okay, I am a MORON!! shindig_pop's b-day is JULY, not JUNE! bleh. Guess that's what I get for not paying closer attention. bleh

Well poo, I missed wishing rufftoon a HAPPY BIRTHDAY [hope it was an awesomely awesome one!], but at least I had a good reason.....
Yay for newegg.com!! My video card finally gave up the ghost and died while I was playing 'City of Heroes' last Sunday. So I have been sans-computer since [I feel so naked without one now. It's silly....], until today when the new video card arrived! Yay!! [well, the hubby got the new one and I got the old one, but that's okay, since it had to do with plug-ins and the fact that there wasn't a place on the new one to plug in my old-but-still-functional-monitor, but the one in the hubby's *could*. ^_^]
So *yay* for new video card!! Although...I'd not realized just how NOISY the old one had gotten [the fan went], it's sitting here running now, and I can barely hear it. Kinda scary.
Awww....the hubby just read that David Eddings died today. :( **is sad now**

No foolin'.
They even have *tooling* leather, and have the stamps suitable for miniature tooling. O_o

They even sell leather that I can use for dolly clothes. The thought of making miniature horse tack though...just boggles my MIND.

Well...things have been...INTERESTING 'round here, the past two weeks....
( cut for long, life-type thing )
oh, and his leg brace? We were having to show the nurses and such how to get it off...we kept hearing "I've never seen this type of brace before!" It amused us both. But, as the nice lady who did the ultrasound pointed out, when it's not in your field you don't hear/see about the new innovations until a patient comes through with one, because sometimes they happen just that quickly. heh

ah, most of you will probably look at me like I'm a nutjob...okay, so I AM a nutjob. O_o Anyhoo, NCSoft just released a new costume/power pack for CoH/CoV....
magic related....
WITCHY HAT WITH HAIR FOR THE *WIN* BAYBE!!
The *problem* with the witchy hat you get with the Katie Hannon task-force...it has no hair. So basically you're looking at a hat perched atop a bald head. So when I made Baba Yagga's witchy outfit, well, I don't use it much 'cause I don't want to look at her bald head. LOL
ya know...I understand why they can't [has to do with the graphics engine they used, so the hubby's explained], but I would ADORE if they could do a long skirt next. heh. That one isn't going to happen, but I'd still adore it. ^_^
I'm just hoping you can change the hair color, otherwise the "old" Baba's outfit won't work. heh. Ah well, I guess if I can't change the hair color separate from the hat, I can always make a different outfit for that 'old' version. hee. [I WISH you could buy more costume slots...although I'd probably drop a buttload of 'em on Baba...but at least one more would give me six, which means old and young versions of *all* the costumes. heee]
oh yeah, and something about a costume change e-mote. Will have to see how that works, might be able to use *that* for Baba too...O_o
EDIT: Okay, it's not available YET [april 14th, I think the hubby just said]...but soon!
