LOL Should have just cross-posted...oh well. XD

Anyhoo, I've made it back onto Dreamwidth. Yay!!

The Monster High community doesn't seem to have moved there though....**sniffles** This is what I get for forgetting to check LJ for awhile, I suppose, I've no idea where they've gone....

Well, was doing some digging on websites just a few minutes ago...apparently Toys R Us AND Target now accept PayPal as a valid form of payment on their websites. Stumbled onto Toys R Us by accident, and thought "what the heck" and checked out Target. Was more than a tiny bit surprised, to be honest. XD

The hubby came across this picture, talk about ye olde double standard.....and oddly enough something that hadn't even occurred to me until I saw it. >_<

aww....now the dog wants to play....XD Laters!

The snow is falling down.... [Feb. 4th, 2014|02:48 pm]
[Current Mood |mellowmellow]
[Current Music |sirens in the distance]

You know, the one advantage to my computer *still* being buggered, is that I'm sitting here in the living room with the laptop, and can turn my head a bit and watch the snow falling outside. That is, I think, one of my favorite parts about snow...just watching those white fluffy blobs fall down to the ground. I'm tempted to get up and open the blinds a little bit more, just to have a bit of an area to watch

Of course snow can also be evil, especially when there was still patches of ice here and there. Managed to literally end up sprawled on my back this morning putting doggy unmentionables in the dumpster. Ebony, of course, seemed to think this was a new kind of game. Was quite thankful for the patch of grass that's next to the dumpster, otherwise I'd probably *still* be trying to get up. [an exaggeration...downstairs neighbors would have helped me up, I think...]. Should have been more careful though, when Ebony made a distinctly Bambie-like move when she went up to sniff the dumpster like she usually wants to [and keeping her from licking whatever she finds on the ground by that thing....oy vey. Silly Lab.]

As pretty as it is though, I'm *not* looking forward to tomorrow morning. Unless work calls up later today and says "nope, we're gonna stay closed tomorrow" or something, I get to go in first thing in the morning. Which, whether I do it tonight [the more sensible option] or morning [not so great option] I'm going to be shoveling out the car in the dark. With a big metal mixing bowl [again, just like last year!!], because guess who FORGOT to get a shovel. And I was even in Wal-Mart at 7am this morning. **sighs**

Fun times. XD

And so, the hubby discovered that Disney, instead of giving us the REST of 'Gargoyles' on DVD, decided....to put it all up on YouTube. First season's playlist is here, couldn't figure out where there might be one for season two, but the episodes are listed as YouTube does to the side [I checked by watching the opening of the last ep of season one], so they are there. And hey, the quality at least looks good from the opening that I watched. And since it's YouTube, it's free, so hey, at least I can watch the rest of the series again SOMEHOW. So all is good.

**grumbles** and the brother might have pointed us to YET ANOTHER good series [he pointed us to 'Fringe'!], and it's 'Supernatural' of all things. A show that didn't hit my radar for some reason at first, and with the BUTTON of 'Supernatural' slashfic between the two brothers [incest being a MAJOR SQUICK of mine] I've seen I've been like "eww, no." But now that the hubby's watching it [and he sees nearly as many "slashy moments" as I do, and he doesn't see it yet] I'll probably break down and watch it myself. Netflix for the win!!

computers! :P [Aug. 13th, 2013|12:41 pm]
[Current Mood |busybusy]
[Current Music |Jordan Sparks-Battlefield]

Well then. My motherboard croaked....well, longer ago than I care to think about. Haven't been able to scrape the money together to replace it...every time we did, yeah, had to spend it on something else. [stupid microwave...**grumbles**]

Lo! A savior on the horizon! I now have a motherboard...positively MINIMAL RAM though, so about all I can do is websurf and listen to music [and that's only since I upped the virtual memory setting to 4 gig. XD]. Turns out that the power supply was *also* toast....thankfully the wonderifical guy that brought my new motherboard also brought a power supply....which doesn't *quite* have enough juice to run the video card properly [the spiffy new one we got when we thought it was the video card and not the motherboard. :P]. Between lack of RAM and that, I can't run any of my video games. **sniffles** BUT, I'm getting fun replacements...hopefully next month, if I get the time off I asked for. **crosses her fingers**. It's so WONDERFUL to be able to use my ergonomic keyboard again, and not have to worry about the stupid touchscreen that the laptop has [typing *anything* on that sucker's a trial, you have to watch where your mouse is, or else end up occasionally getting random letters in other words when you hit the touchpad just right. Wish there was a way to turn the frippin' thing off. LOL]

Of COURSE a new motherboard ended up meaning a new reinstall of Windows. :P Though the hubby used it as an excuse to give me the 64 bit version....LOL

It ALSO means that I have to reinstall everything. Again. CRANKY.

Especially since I now have to figure out how to get 'City of Heroes' installed so that I can view the demorecords...no hurry on that though, 'cause I doubt that I could do anything there either, until the final components of my computer are in. I'm not *too* worried about it, just have to find the post dealing with how to do it, 'cause yeah...COH is now gone. **sniffles and shakes a fist at NCSoft**

*acks* Just realized I have to ask the hubby how to get 'Total Annihilation Kingdoms' back on my comp, too....LOL Although...can't really install it until I get a DVD drive back anyway [the power supply doesn't have enough rails or something to have one....:P]

Trying to get through everything to make sure that everything's okay...so far so good. For once it wasn't the HD that barfed, so the hubby was able to Ghost an image of it so it's all cool.

Oh, and I have access to my icons again...LOL So I can change mine if I want to...**grumbles something about having to reinstall Photoshop** Just in time for Halloween too, yay!!! Oh, I really do need to get Photoshop reinstalled, so I can do a new gaming icon for Halloween....my former one doesn't work anymore. :(

On a totally different note, I've now done something I haven't since....oh gosh, was it 'Sixth Sense'? No, the first 'Iron Man'. I've seen a movie in the theater more than once! Of course it was 'Pacific Rim', and just as awesome the second time around as it was the first! My favorite thing about this movie...while it's about giant robots fighting giant monsters....during the actual fight scenes you can TELL WHAT'S GOING ON!! [yes, 'Transformers' movies, I'm looking at you!!!]. Though apparently the first time around I said my "form Blazing Sword" comment loud enough the girls sitting behind us heard me...and the hubby said it cracked them up. I didn't even notice. XD

Peggy is liking that I can sit at my computer now...my computer desk is actually a table, so there's room for her to sit between me and the keyboard. So she has been. ^_^ She can safely get attention without having to worry about The Lick Of Death from Ebony. XD At least Peggy's getting a bit more tolerant about that, though once she looked like a drowned rat by the time Ebony was done. hehehh

Okay, now the hubby's distracting me with Minecraft, so I should probably finish this up. XD Laters!

Timing is everything.... [Jun. 29th, 2013|01:22 am]
[Current Mood |contemplativecontemplative]
[Current Music |Reignite-Malukah]

I go hang out at one of the local yarn stores Friday evenings...if I'm not working. Did so today...more often than not some of us hanging out long after the store closes...tonight was no different. So, I'm pulling into the parking lot of our apartment at about 9pm. A FIRE TRUCK pulls up behind me [not into the lot, but next to it on the street], and the first-response guys are on their way in before I'm out of the car. So I get into the building, they're all clustered by the door down the hall from us.

Now, the guy that lives there is blind and deaf. BOTH of which I ended up informing the first responders of...apparently he has a 'lifeline', and it went off, and that's why they were there. Of course, they had NO IDEA how to communicate with the guy [and yes, one of them was trying to track someone down who could come to the scene to help them].

I knew the hubby did, so I offered to go get him. They said sure, and off I went. See, one of the times he'd taken Ebony out for a potty run earlier this week, he'd run into the guy's son, and they started talking, and the hubby learned just *how* they communicate. [basically from what I saw tonight, the guy cups his hands around yours when you sign...] And he's FAR BETTER with sign even now than I was even when we were trying to learn it, and I knew he could finger spell, and sure enough he started talking with our neighbor to explain what was going on. Of course *then* we learned that one of the EMTs [I think? There were like five people there...LOL], one of them anyway said that he could finger spell, and once he'd seen the hubby talk to the neighbor he knew what to do.

All of them were TOTALLY fascinated when they were first watching though, because all of them were like 'how the heck do you communicate with someone who can't see you?'. And though the neighbor didn't know why his lifeline alarm went off, they still had to go in and reset it.

And me, all I could think of was that if I'd gotten home five minutes earlier, I would have missed them totally, and they'd have NO IDEA why the guy kept coming to the door and then shutting it on them [because none of them were giving any indication that they were there because they had no idea he COULD NOT SEE them! Or hear them!]. If the hubby hadn't taken out the dog just when he did, and struck up the conversation that he did, he would have had no idea how communication with the neighbor actually occurred.

In the end the neighbor was perfectly fine, it was a false alarm, but still it's kind of amazing sometimes how things can happen just so and end up coming in handy.

Really don't know if anyone on my f-list watches soaps [or ever have...], so really, if you don't wanna read this just move right along, 'cause there's nothing else to see here.

Jeanne CooperCollapse )

On a totally different tangent.... "Oblivion" is a great sci-fi movie. Yes, even though Tom Cruise is in it. Go see it if you like that sort of thing...but if you easily blubber like a baby [as I do], just be warned. Bring Kleenex. That is all.

The hubby was talking to a few people yesterday. One lives in Kansas City...close enough that we've been considering taking a day of it for a meet-up. Then another mentioned an anime convention being held there in May. An anime convention. Two hours from us. Okay then.

Well, their website was down last night [Naka-kon, if anyone's interested/cares. XD], but was up this morning, so first order of business was to check out registration. Of course we missed the early pre-registration, since it's in March, saw the price for what pre-registration is now and started waffling a bit.

Then I went and checked the guest list.

Nobuo Uematsu

RIGHT THERE AT THE TOP. I did some squeeing and flailing, turned and told the hubby "We HAVE TO GO!!!"

Most of you probably don't know who he is. I'd be surprised if *any* of my f-list knows who he is, really. But he's a music composer. Among other things, he composed the score for Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 and 10. Aerith's theme is STILL my favorite.

Unfortunately we don't have a copy of any of the soundtracks. So we'll just have to settle for having him autograph our copy of 'Final Fantasy 7', if he's doing autographs.
